On the AirTouch F20, the frame system is the structural core of the mask: the cushion seats into it, the headgear attaches via its magnetic clips, and it carries the elbow where the tubing connects. It's what everything else attaches to.
Frames are wear parts — handled and cleaned daily, they can crack, warp, or have their connection points loosen over time, and a damaged frame won't hold the cushion properly (leaks follow no matter how the headgear is adjusted). Replacing the frame system when your cushion and headgear are still good is far cheaper than a complete new mask. This one is supplied without headgear — for people who already have good headgear.
AirTouch (foam) or AirFit (silicone)? The AirTouch F20 and AirFit F20 share the same frame and headgear — they differ only in the cushion. The AirTouch uses the plush UltraSoft™ memory-foam cushion (softest feel, great for sensitive skin; a little more delicate, replaced more often); the AirFit uses a silicone InfinitySeal™ cushion (durable, wipe-clean). Because the frame is shared, you can switch between foam and silicone by changing the cushion.
The standard F20 uses magnetic headgear clips. Magnets are contraindicated for some people — including those with certain active implants (pacemakers, ICDs, neurostimulators, CSF shunts, insulin/infusion pumps) or metallic implants/objects (aneurysm clips, stents, metallic eye fragments, certain ocular/hearing implants). Keep mask magnets away from such implants/devices, follow the contraindications in the mask's user guide, and consult your physician.
