Like any CPAP, the AirMini draws in room air, and the filter is the first line of defense — trapping airborne dust and particles before they reach the airflow or the device. Because the AirMini is compact, it uses its own small filter that fits its air inlet (standard AirSense/Air10 filters don't fit it — the AirMini filter is specific to the AirMini).
It's a disposable filter: replaced on a schedule, not washed. Filters load up with debris over time and filter less effectively, so replacing on schedule keeps both the air and the device clean. A multi-pack keeps replacements on hand for routine changes — handy given the AirMini is often used while travelling.
