Adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV) is a form of bilevel therapy designed for breathing patterns that a fixed pressure can't manage well — particularly central sleep apnea, mixed apnea, and periodic (Cheyne-Stokes) breathing, where the drive to breathe itself varies. Rather than holding a set pressure, ASV continuously monitors your breathing and adjusts pressure support breath by breath — providing more support when breathing weakens and backing off when it normalizes — to smooth out the pattern.
This is fundamentally different from CPAP (one fixed pressure) or standard BiPAP (two fixed pressures). It's a clinician-prescribed and clinician-titrated therapy, appropriate only for specific diagnoses confirmed by a sleep physician.
"Card-to-Cloud" describes how therapy data reaches your care team: the device records to an SD card, which is used to transfer data for review — as distinct from cellular "Air10" models that upload automatically. It's often the right choice where cellular connectivity isn't available or isn't wanted.
The built-in HumidAir humidifier adds warmth and moisture for comfort, and the device is compatible with ClimateLineAir heated tubing for rainout-free humidification.
ASV therapy has a well-established contraindication: it is generally not appropriate for patients with symptomatic chronic heart failure with a reduced ejection fraction (low LVEF), based on clinical trial findings.
