An Air10 device runs on a specific DC input, and you can't safely feed it raw 12V or 24V from a car socket or battery — it needs to be converted first. The DC/DC converter does exactly that: it takes 12V or 24V DC from a vehicle outlet or compatible battery and converts it to the input the Air10 requires, so the machine runs normally away from mains power.
This is the piece that makes off-grid and mobile therapy work on the Air10: camping, RV and van setups, boats, road trips, or running from a deep-cycle battery during an outage. It connects between your DC source and the device.
Note the distinction from other Air10 power parts: the 90W PSU (37474) runs the device from a wall outlet; this DC/DC converter (37297) runs it from a 12V/24V DC source. They're different tools for different power sources.

This converter is for the Air10 series (AirSense 10, AirCurve 10). It is not for the AirSense 11, S9, or AirMini, which use different power solutions. You'll also need a suitable 12V/24V DC source — a vehicle accessory outlet or a compatible battery — and the appropriate connecting lead for that source. Run time from a battery depends on your pressure, humidification, and heated-tube use. What does the DC/DC converter do? It converts 12V or 24V DC from a vehicle outlet or battery into the input the Air10 needs, so the device can run from DC power.
Can't I just plug the machine into my car socket? No — the device needs its DC input converted first. This converter does that safely; feeding raw vehicle/battery power directly isn't correct.
